The Neighbourhood Panels are public meetings where Parish, District and County Councillors meet to discuss issues affecting a particular area. Bill, Andy and Ian attended the October meeting of the West Area Panel which covers the area west of Ely between Little Thetford, Little Downham, Mepal and Haddenham.

Locals who prefer to get around Ely by bicycle might soon find it easier to park their bikes. Park That Bike in partnership with Cambridgeshire County Council are offering 2 Sheffield stands free of charge to non-profit organisations, including schools and doctor’s surgeries who have space it install them.

We’ve set up a page to allow you to suggest minor changes to improve the cycling provision in and around Ely. Things like a dropped kerb that’s needed, a barrier that needs to be removed or a place where additional cycle parking would be useful.

On Tuesday (18/09/2012) I met with Jane Thompson from East Cambs Council and two Highway’s Engineers from Cambridgeshire County Council to look at how best to refresh the existing cycle provision in Ely and point out any other improvements that could be made.

East Cambridgeshire District Council have been drawing up plans for the ‘Station Gateway’ redesign but they’re not publicising them very much.
