Despite the cold and wet weather we had lots of people come to see us at Ely market today. Everyone we talked to was supportive and welcomed what we’re campaigning for.

Family cycling is very different in Holland
While looking for images for our strategy I noticed something interesting. A search for images of “family cycling” gives a very different set of results from a search for “dutch family cycling”.

Still no no cycling along the river
So after the anti-social cycling furore last year the council had said it would fix the incorrect signs along the river which if taken literally mean “No No Cycling”. However while walking along the river yesterday (13th Jan 2013) I noticed the incorrect signs are still up.

20’s Plenty for Us is contributing to collecting 1 million signatures for a European Citizen’s Initiative (ECI) proposing a default, Europe wide, 20mph (30kph) speed limit for built up areas. Wide area 20 mph limits are extremely popular. Furthermore, approval levels rise, validating the policy’s implementation. No humps are needed. Councillors increasingly receive 20mph limit requests and petitions. Resident approval is strong and it rises after wide area signed 20mph limits are put in. In Bristol 20 mph’s popularity has gone up significantly since the pilots.
