We had another really positive meeting last night. Jane Thompson from ECDC came along and discussed the Ely Traffic Management Fund with us, there were lots of questions and we learned a lot more about the process and what may and may not be possible.

At 13.00 on 20th May, on the far side of the NCN 11 bridge over Reach Lode, there will be an unveiling of a Sustrans Portrait bench http://www.sustrans.org.uk/wha…..rait-bench. (if all goes to plan).

Voluntary sector groups, small businesses, shops, offices, cafés, pubs, churches, dental practices and doctors’ surgeries can get free bicycle stands under the community cycle parking scheme run by ParkThatBike and supported by Cambridgeshire County Council.

We’ve had lots of ideas and chat in our forum about how to improve cycling in Ely. Why don’t you add your opinion to the debate?

So Aldi have been given planning permission for their new store on Lisle Lane opposite the new Sainsbury store. Glancing through the news article about the approval I noticed there are only 8 cycle parking spaces to be provided on the site.

Witchford parish council have agreed a number of traffic calming measures. On the whole these measures all seem very cycle friendly, extending the 30 speed limit and adding a 40 limit on the approaches to the village as well as adding marked cycle lanes at the two main junctions on Main Street.
