What is the Sainsbury’s money being spent on?

It’s now nearly a year since the district council announced that there would be a consultation on how the £600,000 of Sainsbury’s S106 would be spent. During last summer there were several consultation exercises including online questionnaires and stakeholder meetings. We were included in this process and like many others gave up our free time to attend meetings and provide input.

Initiative for a Europe wide default 20mph speed limit for built up areas

20’s Plenty for Us is contributing to collecting 1 million signatures for a European Citizen’s Initiative (ECI) proposing a default, Europe wide, 20mph (30kph) speed limit for built up areas. The initiative is a people-powered call for 20mph to be the default European speed limit for built up areas. The success of 20’s Plenty in the UK is part of the reason this was established.

A 20’s Plenty for Us Briefing, December 2012

Wide area 20 mph limits are extremely popular. Furthermore, approval levels rise, validating the policy’s implementation.  No humps are needed. 

 Councillors increasingly receive 20mph limit requests and petitions. Resident approval is strong and it rises after wide area signed 20mph limits are put in.  In Bristol 20 mph’s popularity has gone up significantly since the pilots.
