Ely to Soham: A142 cycle path

Currently there is a shared use path from Ely to Stuntney which is very narrow, covered in mud and dirt and for all intents and purpose unusable. There are some sections of the A142 which have a wide verge to cycle on, again that section is usually covered in dirt.

There is no lack of space for a segregated cycle path from Ely to Soham and we would like to see one built as it is the most direct and safest route between the two towns.

Updates:
Spring 2015: As things currently stand the Ely Southern Bypass might include a cycle path along the old A142 from Ely station to Stuntney.

I sit on the Stuntney Council and I’m looking for input from other interested parties on cycling and walking access into Ely along the A142 corridor. Please can someone from your organisation get in touch with me to discuss any common interest. Especially what would and would not work for you. Nigel Wood

      Hi Nigel

ECC reads the parish newsletter with your comments on the Highways’ proposals for ‘improvement’ and agree with your position.

Regarding liaison, we would like to establish an active travel (walking and cycling) forum for Ely and District. This forum would meet regularly and include invite to elected representatives, council officers and anyone else interested. Would you be interested in taking part?
